Drilling fluid cuttings treatment method

The environmental protection department has established strict laws and regulations to control the discharge of oil-based mud and its cuttings:
----- The National Hazardous Waste List published in 2008 lists sludge produced in drilling fluids and slops from the drilling industry in the HW08 category.
----- The "Ocean Petroleum Exploration and Development Emission Limits" issued in 2009 stipulates that the oil content of emissions should be less than 1%.

Common sludge cuttings treatment methods:
Cuttings reinjection method: The high treatment cost of this method will cause damage to the reservoir structure, and large particle drill cuttings will not enter the bottom layer, which will pollute the groundwater.

 

Principle:
After the waste rock or waste mud is sieved through the crusher, a special reinjection well is used to inject into the stratum far from the oil reduction and water reservoir with good sealing performance for permanent storage.
Advantage:
1. Do not take up drilling production time
2. Drilling site solves the problem of cuttings disposal
3. Zero surface emissions
Disadvantages:
1. High processing costs
2. Damage to the reservoir structure
3. Large particle cuttings cannot enter the formation
4. Contaminated groundwater

Cuttings dryer: It is a solid equipment and needs to be built; the oil content after treatment is 3~5%, which cannot meet the standard requirements.

  Principle:
Conical centrifuge generates centrifugal force by high speed rotation. Centrifugal force overcomes capillary force to remove some liquid from solid residue
Advantages:
1. Simple equipment
2. Small investment
3. Handling capacity up to 40 tons/hour
Disadvantages:
1. The solid oil content after treatment is 3-5%
2. Fixed equipment needs to be built
